The Story

By the second day the Harpers are convinced the nightmare is over. The cops have gone, the news has moved on, and the routine of the house — the workshop, the school run, the kitchen — feels almost normal again. But Greybridge has not let go. It never lets go. When the block goes dark and the first shot is fired, the battle has already been brought to their street. In the space of a few hours, Emily will be forced to kill from necessity, Sarah will make a split-second choice that saves one life and shatters another, and every ordinary room in the Harper house will become a war zone. And behind it all, an officer photographs the licence plate, a compliance representative arrives without a claim number, and the machinery of a company the government hires to solve problems quietly begins to erase the family that saw too much.
