The Fourth Man follows their journey from captivity into the machinery of Babylonian power and toward the moment when obedience to the state demands something they cannot give.

Three men remain standing. The punishment has already been prepared. A furnace. Fire hot enough to kill the men ordered to carry out the execution. Yet when the king looks into the flames, the number inside is no longer three.
