The Story

David has finally won the kingdom. Now he must survive being the man at its centre.
The fugitive is gone. The shepherd has become king. Jerusalem belongs to David. And for the first time, the man who spent years running from power possesses enough of it to change an entire nation.
The King of Zion follows David during the height of his reign: Jerusalem, military expansion, the Ark, covenant, palace, family and the increasingly dangerous distance between the man David once was and the king he is becoming.
Victory brings stability—but also access. The palace creates doors nobody could open for the shepherd. Command creates opportunities nobody could offer the fugitive.
And when David sees Bathsheba, royal desire becomes royal action. What follows does not remain a private moral failure. Uriah dies. Nathan confronts the king. The consequences enter David's household and begin moving through the next generation.
The series refuses to divide David into either saint or monster. He is warrior and worshipper. Merciful and brutal. Faithful and catastrophically selfish. A man after God's heart who remains entirely capable of breaking the hearts of the people nearest him.
The King of Zion explores what happens when the hero finally acquires enough power that nobody around him can easily stop him.

The wife of Uriah the Hittite whose beauty catches the king's eye from a rooftop. Her life becomes the quiet centre of a royal scandal that shadows David's house for generations.

Uriah
The Hittite officer in David's army, fiercely honourable and loyal. His refusal to comfort himself at home while his comrades fight seals his fate on the battlefield.

Nathan
God's prophet before David's throne, who tells the king a story about a little ewe lamb—and dares to confront him with the words 'You are the man.'

Solomon
The son born to David and Bathsheba after their fall, beloved of the Lord. His birth follows the death of the first child and the prophet's judgment.
